RIFCO SPRING PROGRAM GROUND-LEVEL FOREST ECOLOGY AT BRYSON TREE FARM IN EXETER Saturday, May 11, 2024 — 10:00 am - 12:00 noon Bryson Tree Farm, 66 Shannock Hill Road, Richmond, RI PRINT FLYER | DIRECTIONS
The guided walk will visit a couple of vernal (spring) ponds on the Bryson property with amphibian specialist Michael Cavaliere, and we’ll explore the amazing variety of mushrooms and fungal life present in our woodlands with naturalist Deana Tempest-Thomas of the RI Mycological Society.
“The program is a field tour follow-up to a February Woodland Owner’s Workshop,” according to RIFCO member and our hosts, Tom & Antonia Bryson. “We’ll view our forest management activities that we’ve done over the past twenty years under our forest management plan and with our forester.” Those topics will include tree identification, deer-browse impacts, forest ecology and other woodlot management topics.
The property is located at 66 Shannock Hill Road, which is located just east of Carolina village in Richmond, RI. Parking directions and signage will be set up on site at 9:30 am, and the program will start at 10.
